Peer Mentors (PM) are peer educators, responsible for mentoring first time students of color. This

position is designed as a critical retention piece for students of color at the College of St. Catherine. The

Peer Mentor Program (PMP) serves to create a community among students of color and to assist in the

academic, emotional and social success of first year students of color. PMs connect students to a

network consisting of faculty, staff, and fellow students. In addition to working with students

individually, each PM is a part of a team that works with each other, departments college-wide and MIPS

staff to provide support in shaping a multicultural community. PMs demonstrate, at the individual and

group level, leadership attitudes and skills that affirm the unique backgrounds of individuals.
