Peer Mentors (PM) are peer educators, responsible for mentoring first time students of color. This
position is designed as a critical retention piece for students of color at the College of St. Catherine. The
Peer Mentor Program (PMP) serves to create a community among students of color and to assist in the
academic, emotional and social success of first year students of color. PMs connect students to a
network consisting of faculty, staff, and fellow students. In addition to working with students
individually, each PM is a part of a team that works with each other, departments college-wide and MIPS
staff to provide support in shaping a multicultural community. PMs demonstrate, at the individual and
group level, leadership attitudes and skills that affirm the unique backgrounds of individuals.
