Minority Nurse Magazine Award

Amount- $3,000 annually and two awards if $1,000 annually. Non-Renewable

Deadline- May 1, 2016

 

Scolarship Details-Must be enrolled in the third or fourth year of an accredited BSN program, OR an accelerated program leading to a BSN degree (such as RN-to-BSN or BA-to-BSN), OR an accelerated master's entry program in nursing for a student with a bachelor's degree in fields other than nursing (such as BA-to-MSN). Graduate students who already have a bachelor's degree in nursing are not eligible.

EMPOWER Scholarships

Application Deadline-May 15, 2016

Maximum Amount-$1,500

 

Scholarship Description-EMPOWER Scholarships are open to ethnically diverse students for attendance at an institution of higher learning. To be eligible for one of two $1,500 scholarships, students must be residents of Minnesota or Wisconsin, have a history of volunteering, be pursuing a career in healthcare, have a 2.0 GPA or above and demonstrate financial need.

Page Education Foundation Grant

Application Deadline- May 1, 2016

Amount- $2,500

 

Scolarship Details- Page Education Foundation Grants Minority Scholarships Page Grants are awarded to Minnesota students of color who attend Minnesota post-secondary schools and agree to complete annual service projects with young children. Students at all levels of academic achievement can qualify for a grant. The selection process highlights an applicant’s attitude toward education, willingness to provide service to children, and financial need.

Herbert Lehman Scholarship

Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for graduating high school students and college freshmen attending/planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university. To be eligible, students must have a record of academic achievement and a proven commitment to public service. Applicants must be of excellent character and be able to present strong academic records, test scores, and personal essays.

IAPMO Scholarship Essay Contest

Maximum Amount- $500- $1,000
 
Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and current full-time students (including an apprenticeship). To apply for this scholarship, applicants must write an essay of 800 to 1600 words on the following topic: "The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) has been in existence since 1926. Of all The IAPMO Group’s core competencies, which division do you feel is making the greatest impact and why?" See website for further detail.

Pedro Zamora Young Leaders Scholarship
Application Deadline- May 2, 2016
Maximum Amount- $2,500- $5,000
 
Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (ages 26 and younger) who demonstrate an active commitment to fighting AIDS and have taken on roles of public service and leadership (for example, providing peer-based prevention and education; advocacy or activism; public awareness; and/or practical, emotional, or treatment support to people living with HIV/AIDS). Applicants also must intend to pursue a career that will have a clear and demonstrable impact on the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Lewis C. Hoffman Scholarship

Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for undergraduate students in the area of ceramics/materials science. Applicants should be juniors or seniors who have acquired at least 70 semester credits or equivalent quarter credits at the time of application.

American Indian Services Scholarship

Maximum Amount- 
 
Scholarship Description- To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be of at least 1/4 Northern-Native American blood and be undergraduate students with no more than 150 semester credits or 210 quarter credits. Applicants may be full- or part-time students and must be able to supply a certificate of Indian blood/proof of Indian heritage and their tribal affiliation.

Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for women who are pursuing advanced degrees in accounting. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be Ph.D. students who have completed comprehensive exams prior to the previous fall semester. Selection for this scholarship is based on scholarship, service, and financial need.

Stephanie Carroll Memorial Scholarship

Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for nursing students who are enrolled in a nursing program accredited by the NLN or CCNE. Nursing students in an undergraduate or graduate program are also eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be committed to practice in long term care or geriatrics as their practice area after graduation.

LGMD Awareness Scholarship

Maximum Amount- 
 
Scholarship Description- This scholarship is for current and former high school and college students between the ages of 17 and 30 who are or will be enrolled in some form of higher education (including two- and four-year colleges, universities, medical, graduate and vocational schools) in the United States in 2016. To apply, applicants must teach at least 25 people about LGMDs (types of muscular dystrophy) using given learning materials, then complete an application that includes two short essay questions about their teaching experience. Scholarship Description- This contest is for current undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university. Applicants must submit an essay on how to achieve financial success by a person's 40's. Open to all majors, but students focused in business, economics, pre-law, marketing, journalism, English may be particularly well-suited to the essay topic.
